Who Shared My Link? (WSML) Tool

Who Shared My Link? (WSML) is one of Muck Rack’s most popular features for journalists. In addition to being able to import almost any article into Muck Rack and assign it to the author’s page, the tool helps journalists get information regarding engagement, readership, and social reach.

Use the Who Shared My Link (WSML) Tool

  1. From the main navigation bar, select Who Shared My Link?

  2. Paste the URL of the article into the main field then select the Calculate shares button.

Metrics Included

You can instantly see several metrics after pasting the URL. Check the table below to learn more about each Metric in detail.

Total Engagement

The number of times a link was shared, commented on, or liked on social media networks tracked by Muck Rack.

Facebook Engagement

The number of times a link was shared, commented on or liked on Facebook

Pinterest Engagement

The number of times a link was shared, commented on or liked on Pinterest

Journalist Shares

The total number of journalists who have shared a link on X (Twitter). This metric provides insight into how many times a story has been amplified by the most credible, influential sources, journalists.

Journalist Reach

The cumulative number of X (Twitter) followers the journalists who tweeted the link have. This metric is used to measure journalists’ circulation on X (Twitter).

Sentiment

The classification of tone of an article, which may be positive, negative, or neutral.

Metric

Description

UVM

The sum of unique devices visiting this publication's domain in a month. Insights by SimilarWeb. The Total UVM is the UVM of each media outlet in the current view, added up once per media outlet even if there is more than one link included from the same outlet (e.g., if there are two articles from Outlet A in the report and Outlet A has 1M UVM, that's still only 1M included in 'Total UVM').

Domain Authority

A score (0-100) that predicts how well a website will rank on search engines, provided by Moz.

Page Authority

A score (0-100) that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engine result pages.

Spam Score

A score that represents the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you’re researching, which we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. Learn more about what percentages mean on the Moz website.

Media Market

A region where the population is likely to view content from the media outlet.

Scope

The range and type of audience the media outlet creates content for.

Language

The Language the article was published in.

Location

The primary location for the media outlet that published a link.


View Backlinks

From this report, you can select View links to this article to review where the article has been backlinked in other coverage.

Export a Who Shared My Link (WSML) Report

This report can easily be shared with others by selecting Export in the top right corner, then choosing the format you'd like to download the report in: PDF, PDF with X Posts, or Excel.


Add Link to Your Portfolio

From this report, you can also select the 'Add link to your portfolio' link in the top right-hand corner to include this in your portfolio on your journalist profile.
