How do I report a bounced email?

If you receive a bounce from a journalist’s email, you can flag this with our team to research a new email address for you.

To report bounced emails sent with Pitches:

  1. Click the name of your Pitch located on this page

  2. Click the checkbox next to any contacts with bounced emails

  3. Click Report Issue in the upper blue bar

Important Note:

The 'Report Issue' button will only appear if you are sending pitches via Muck Rack's email integration. Through the integration, emails are sent directly from your email address, which means bounces are sent directly back to your email. If there's an issue, you will receive a notification directly in your email inbox, and can report the issue through the means above.

For those using the email integration, the action above alerts our team to research new email addresses for those contacts. You will automatically receive an email if our team finds a new email address for a contact you reported.

To learn more about pitch statuses, view our article Pitch statuses explained.

Not using Muck Rack's email integration?

If you are sending through a DNS configuration, Muck Rack will automatically detect any bounced emails, so you will not see the 'Report Issue' button.

Contacts with updated emails will move to the Unsent section of your Pitch. You can choose to resend the email to the new email address by clicking Continue sending at the top of the page.
