Duplicate Article Detection
Duplicate Article Detection in Search
Duplicate content, including articles published through syndication, occurs when the same or similar content appears across multiple outlets. Muck Rack identifies these articles and marks the primary source with an "Original" badge, factoring in external links, publication time, and brand attribution.
By grouping syndicated articles and other similar content, you can reduce the clutter of your results and more effectively monitor your most meaningful press hits!
How to Change Duplicate Search Settings
Muck Rack groups duplicate content together by default. Easily change your Muck Rack settings in your profile.
Go to Settings.
Select Search Preferences.
Choose Shown Separately.
Duplicate Detection in Alerts
When creating or editing an Alert, you can choose to group together duplicate articles to ensure you’re only reviewing unique results. Receive all duplicates of an article that match an Alerts search criteria directly into a linked Coverage Report, instead of just the article that triggered the Alert.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Alerts set to ‘As published' are not considered for syndication.
Any duplicate/syndicated articles will not come through an alert or be added to an attached coverage report in this setting because the alerts are automatically filtered as individual articles.
Syndicated articles aren't excluded due to 'As published.' Instead, grouping isn't considered.
Duplicate Detection on Journalist Profiles
Duplicate articles are grouped on a journalist's profile to avoid filling it with repetitive content. You can quickly see the diverse range of articles by a journalist. To see how this is set up within a journalist profile, read our Manage a Journalist Profile article in our Help Center.
